Cancer staging can feel very complicated, so please ask your doctor to explain in more detail why it matters and what your stage means for you.1
Many people who are diagnosed with early-stage EGFR+ NSCLC (stage 1B, 2A and 2B) and locally-advanced (stage 3A) are candidates for surgery to remove their tumours. You may see this written in Roman numerics as IB, IIA and IIB).
The treatment you have been prescribed; osimertinib, is available to use for these patients (Stage 1B - 3A) after surgery as what is called an adjuvant treatment. 2
Any treatment that can help reduce the chance of cancer coming back after its surgically removed is referred to as adjuvant therapy.3
Osimertinib is prescribed for adjuvant treatment after complete removal of the tumour in adult patients with stage 1B-3A NSCLC where the tumours have an EGFR mutation.
Always keep communicating with your healthcare professional and healthcare team so they know how you’re coping with your treatment. Be aware of any changes that you notice in your body and let them know if/when you experience any side effects.
