Managing your medicine and routine
This website is only intended for UK patients who have been prescribed TAGRISSO® (osimertinib)
- You should take osimertinib once a day. Your doctor, nurse or pharmacist will tell you how many tablets to take. Do not chew, break or crush the tablets.1
- Osimertinib is taken by mouth. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take Osimertinib every day at the same time.1,2
- You can take this medicine with or without food.1,2
- Osimertinib may fit into your daily routine and can be taken at home or on-the-go1-3
- Keep them in the original package and at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight
- Keep them safe and out of sight and reach of children
- If your treatment is stopped return any unused tablets to the pharmacist
- It is important to get a new prescription before you run out of tablets and make sure you have plenty for holidays
What if I miss a dose?
If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is less than 12 hours until your next dose is due, skip the missed dose. Take your next normal dose at its scheduled time.2
Your doctor may change your dose, temporarily stop, or permanently stop treatment with osimertinib if you experience side effects.3
It’s important to follow your doctor’s guidance for staying on track with your treatment.
What if I can’t swallow osimertinib whole?
- Put the tablet in a glass. Add 50 mL (about two-thirds of a tumblerful) of still (non-fizzy) water – do not use any other liquids.2
- Stir the water until the tablet breaks up into very small pieces - the tablet will not completely dissolve.2,3
- Drink the liquid straight away.2
- To make sure you have taken all of the medicine, rinse the glass thoroughly with another 50 mL of water and drink it.2
